Newport Transporter Bridge - one of only 6 operational transporter bridges left worldwide from a total of 20 constructed. 

Please note that due to the ongoing Transporter Bridge Transformation Project, the site is currently closed.

The project consists of two distinct elements: the construction of a new visitor centre for the site, and the restoration work taking place on the world-famous bridge itself.

The remarkable Newport Transporter Bridge is one of only six operational transporter bridges left world wide from a total of twenty constructed.

The bridge opened in 1906 and has dominated the Newport skyline since.
